EAST COAST CUSTOM DOORS FINISHING RECOMMENDATIONS

INTERIOR DOORS:

1. Prior to installation all surfaces, including tops & bottoms of doors as well as inside all hardware preps, need to be completely coated with a quality sealer product.

2. After sealing, apply two (2) coats of a good finish of your choice.

3. Finish on all doors, whether factory or field applied should be maintained as needed. Frequency of maintenance depends on site conditions and exposure.

EXTERIOR DOORS:

1. Prior to installation all surfaces, including tops and bottoms of doors as well as inside all hardware preps, need to be completely coated with a good quality exterior sealer product.

2. After sealing, apply at least two (2) coats of an exterior grade paint or spar varnish.

3. Proper maintenance on exterior doors is critical. All surfaces must remain fully sealed. Extra care should be taken to prevent moisture penetration at the tops and bottoms of doors. All exterior doors should be refinished annually.
